Delphic Solutions
In 1998, two researchers and a senior academic at a leading university founded a ‘spin-out’ company to develop IT solutions for small to medium sized businesses in the local area. At the time, SMEs had few options in seeking the same advantages from infotechnologies as big plcs. Most would buy the products of the big software houses and try to learn how to use and put them together. Without the luxury of a full-time IT department, most managers in SMEs found this challenging, and few reaped the full benefits of the new technologies.
Business was brisk for the new enterprise, and it soon expanded from its East Midlands base into the South East. Mergers with some other regionally based consultancies followed. It’s growth matched dramatic changes in the marketplace with broadband and the emerging commercial possibilities of the internet deepening the challenges for growing and innovative businesses. Critical mass and adequate financing was achieved through the purchase of the business by a major publishing house six years ago and with the help of professional management, the enlarged and multi-located company was put on a sound footing. In 2009, an amicable management buy-out from the parent company enabled the original founders of the business to recover full ownership.
Increasingly, Delphic has been helping big plcs looking for innovative ways of supporting their decentralized businesses and using the web and intranets to best effect.

Delphic Solutions now employs over a hundred people, who are treated as partners with a share in ownership and participation in its profitability. All are experts in their own right, with knowledge and expertise in commerce and open source software which is unparalleled within the industry. We also have a close partnership with a dedicated team located in India, which enables us to maintain the highest quality standards, peerless project management and excellent support at low cost.
